Our Association
Enduring Hearts Association is a community organization dedicated to honouring young people who have died from, or survived, an unexpected cardiac arrest. We ensure those who have died are never forgotten, while offering survivors a vital network of solidarity. For grieving families and friends, we provide a compassionate community to share memories, find support, and maintain an enduring connection to their loved ones.
The Association brings people together through activities such as the Walk for Life Sydney, creating opportunities for bereaved families, friends and the wider community to stand together in remembrance and solidarity. It provides a welcoming environment where people affected by sudden cardiac death, or those who have survived a cardiac arrest, can share their stories and experiences, whilst promoting greater understanding of sudden cardiac death, cardiac arrhythmias and the medical, genetic, psychological, bereavement and community services available to those affected.
Enduring Hearts also seeks to turn remembrance into positive action by supporting education, research and initiatives aimed at understanding, preventing and treating sudden cardiac death in young people. Through collaboration with health and research organisations, charities and community groups, the Association aims to improve awareness, encourage compassionate responses to bereavement, connect families with appropriate support, and provide funding and resources for research and prevention. In doing so, Enduring Hearts seeks to honour those who have died by helping create a future in which fewer young lives are lost suddenly and unexpectedly.
Purpose of our walks
Our Walk for Life activities remember and celebrate the lives of our beloved young people who have died unexpectedly from a sudden cardiac arrest.
Each week in Australia, on average 7 young people under the age of 35 die suddenly and unexpectedly from a cardiac arrhythmia. The shock and grief experienced by family and friends can be immeasurable.
Our annual walks began in 2022 and are an opportunity for families and friends who have lost a cherished young person to get together, share stories, information and make links with others in similar circumstances.
We wish to offer a big-hearted, warm welcome to this walk for all family and friends of people who have died in these circumstances. Bring whatever emotions and feelings you have – the deep sadness from the loss and the joy at having had this person in your life. Everybody is welcome.
Location
We have mapped out a beautiful route to walk through Centennial Park, and we will come together in the picnic area after the walk for lunch and some time together. If you prefer not to walk you can still come along and stay in the picnic area whilst others walk. The walk starts at One More Shot Pond, Centennial Park. Full details and map are available on the registration page.
Registration
Let us know if you are coming. There is a registration page for the Sydney walk in November, or email your plans to Jenny and Edmund at contact@walkforlife.sydney.
Previous walks
Jenny and Edmund founded the Walk for Life in 2022, following the sudden death of our precious son, Aidan, in 2018. Wonderful walks have been held each November in 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025. More details of the day are available on the about page.
For those in Victoria there is now also an option for participating in a walk in Melbourne: Walk for Life Melbourne.
