Centenary Institute – Centre for Cardiovascular Research
The Centre for Cardiovascular Research at Centenary Institute investigate the genetic causes of inherited heart disease and sudden cardiac death in the young. This research helps us to understand why seemingly healthy young people die suddenly from inherited heart conditions and unexplained cardiac arrhythmias. Led by internationally recognised researchers, the Centre combines advanced genetic analysis with clinical research at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital to identify previously unknown causes of sudden cardiac death, improve diagnosis for affected families, and develop new approaches that can prevent these devastating tragedies. Every discovery brings researchers closer to identifying those at risk before a life is lost and provides families with answers that are so often missing after an unexpected death.

The Enduring Hearts Walk for Life is about finding a space to share our common experiences and in the gentle settings of Centennial Park. Another way to remember our lost loved ones it to foster the work in cardiovascular research, and in particular around the genetic research that the Centenary Institute and others are leading in this field. Our community shares a common hope—that fewer families will experience the heartbreak of losing a son, daughter, brother, sister or friend without warning. Donations made to the Centenary Institute have the potential to transform lives: expanding genetic testing, improving screening for inherited heart disease, reducing the number of unexplained deaths, and ultimately preventing sudden cardiac death in future generations. Your generosity helps turn remembrance into action, ensuring that every step we take together contributes to scientific discoveries that offer answers, hope and the possibility of saving young lives.
